(Webinar) Effective Strategies for Reducing Length of Stay for Trauma Patients
Most trauma teams have little trouble moving patients quickly from triage through resuscitation to critical care. But after the patient is stabilized, the process often comes to a standstill because post-ICU and post-acute services are inadequate or unavailable. The results are extended length-of-stay (LOS) and increased risk of complications.
This new webinar takes a close look at effective strategies for streamlining the movement of injured patients from critical care to recovery to discharge.

During this recorded session, Morgan Krause and Jessica Mantooth from Northeast Georgia Medical Center describe how they improved patient throughput by creating a dedicated trauma intermediate care unit. They explain how they secured resources, recruited and trained staff, and overcame barriers to implementation. They also show how this strategy reduced LOS and unplanned ICU readmissions while saving the center more than $1.5 million annually.
In addition, Blake Havers from Aspen Medical Products (the sponsor of this webinar) shows how early mobilization strategies, supported by an effective orthotics program, can shorten LOS for trauma patients and facilitate home discharge.
View this webinar to learn:
- How to plan, develop and implement a trauma intermediate care unit that reduces total LOS
- Opportunities for supporting patient recovery and facilitating discharge through early mobilization
- Ideas for working with PT, OT, case management and others to enhance trauma patient recovery
Sponsored by Aspen Medical Products, this webinar is designed for anyone who is concerned about the clinical and operational implications of extended length-of-stay for trauma patients — trauma program managers, TMDs, trauma coordinators, nursing leaders, rehabilitation and case management professionals, and hospital executives.
