New from CNTR: August News & Opportunities

  • NIH funds teletrauma implementation project: A new NIH-funded TRUCARE initiative, led by Dr. Zain Hashmi, will develop a teletrauma implementation toolkit to help hospitals establish sustainable teletrauma programs, with CNTR providing scientific leadership and stakeholder engagement support.
  • Coalition expands membership: CNTR welcomed five new Affiliate Members, strengthening collaboration across trauma, burn, neuroscience, surgical infection, and advocacy communities.
  • Advancing geriatric trauma nursing research: CNTR and the Society of Trauma Nurses (STN) are partnering to identify and prioritize research gaps in geriatric trauma nursing, helping ensure nursing perspectives are better represented in future trauma research agendas.
  • CNTR’s next Research Methodology Webinar: Registration is open for CNTR’s September webinar, Unlocking Burn and Trauma Databases: From Benchmarking to Breakthroughs, offering practical guidance on using trauma and burn databases to strengthen research and quality improvement.
  • Trauma data standards milestone—and repository transition: Six papers outlining CNTR’s work to develop standardized trauma common data elements (CDEs) have been published in Trauma Surgery & Acute Care Open, while the National Trauma Research Repository (NTRR) faces closure .
  • Upcoming education and advocacy opportunities: Register for American Burn Association educational events, a new TRICARE prehospital blood transfusion demonstration project, advocacy resources related to AHRQ research funding, and the 2026 Rally for Medical Research Hill Day.
