The Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN) has announced that Jamin Rankin, BSN, RN, CEN, CFRN, TCRN, CPEN, CTRN, is the recipient of the 2024 Distinguished TCRN Award.
Rankin is trauma program manager at Ochsner LSU Health Monroe Medical Center in Monroe, Louisiana. In his role as a trauma leader, he provides education to both nurses and paramedics on responding to trauma and pediatric emergencies. In addition, Rankin is actively involved in providing hemorrhage control and driver safety education in Louisiana.
Rankin also led efforts at Monroe Medical Center to earn Level III trauma center designation from the Louisiana Emergency Response Network (LERN) and Level III verification from the American College of Surgeons.
The Distinguished TCRN Award recognizes a board certified trauma RN who demonstrates an exceptional commitment to clinical excellence and professionalism through specialty certification as well as leadership and innovation in supporting other nurses to earn national specialty credentials.
Rankin was nominated for the Distinguished TCRN Award by Deborah Spann, LERN’s statewide education coordinator.
“JR is the example of what a truly dedicated registered nurse should look like,” Spann said. “The way he interacts with other nurses, communicates with industry leaders, portrays his nursing professionalism to the community, and connects with patients is directed and guided by the education gained in preparing and maintaining the varied certifications.”
Rankin is one of more than 7,500 nurses who have earned the Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN) certification, trauma nursing’s highest professional credential. Nurses who earn the TCRN must demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge and expertise across the continuum of trauma care from injury prevention to acute care to rehabilitation.
